The Episcopal Election Process in the Diocese of Western New York involves three bodies: the Standing Committee, the Search Committee and the Transition Committee.  The Standing Committee is charged with overall management of the the election process.  

The Search Committee:

• Develops a profile of the diocese that communicates who we are and the spiritual gifts, personal qualities and leadership skills needed in the 11th Bishop of Western New York to lead us in effectively pursuing God's mission.
• Discerns four candidates it believes to be qualified for election as our eleventh bishop.

The Transition Committee:

• Presents the Nominees to the Diocese
• Plans and assists the Standing Committee in executing the Electing Convention
• Coordinates the planning of the Ordination of our eleventh bishop.
• Assists both our retiring bishop and his family and our new bishop and his or her family in their respective transitions.
