balanced bishop mediumA Prayer to Guide our Search

Be with us and guide us, Holy Spirit of God, as we seek your will for the future of our Diocese.  Help us to discern the needs and hopes of your people in Western New York, so that our search for a Bishop may proceed with clear vision and joyful obedience. We pray through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

The Bishop’s Search Committee consisting of 21 members met for the first time on retreat at Christ the King Seminary on March 27th and 28th. We had the honor of being led by our consultant, Judy Stark, and our chaplain, Rev. Mark Lattime. The standing committee met with us the first part of the retreat in order to hand off the financial plan for the Episcopal Election Process and the acknowledgment of the authority of the General Convention.

The retreat offered an opportunity for all of us to get to know one another, learn more about the search committee process, worship together, and begin the initial planning stages for our journey over the next 18 month’s toward nominating candidates for our new Bishop of the Diocese of Western New York.

The committee members offered to serve on at least one subcommittee in order to complete the first order of business in a full and timely manner. These committees include: Communications, Survey and Profile, and Education.

We left the retreat knowledgeable and accountable to the process ahead of us always aligning ourselves in prayer and with the calling of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God and God’s Church.

Respectfully submitted by the Communications sub-committee:
